Why Your Child Needs Camp

If you’ve been considering sending your child to camp next summer, there’s no better time to enroll! Aside from the obvious fact that camp is tons of fun, children benefit from camp in a number of ways. Don’t deprive your child of another camp-less summer. Here are some reasons why your child needs camp in their lives:

Unplug and Recharge: Research shows that children spend roughly a third of their day engulfed in electronics. Sitting behind a computer screen or electronic device all day results in a lack of human interaction, which can actually stunt the growth of a child’s social development. Camp provides an opportunity for kids to enjoy a tech detox, allowing for the engagement of more face-to-face interactions.

Autonomy: At camp, children develop a new found sense of independence. Sometimes, being separated from parents is the best way to help children learn how to do things on their own.  THis helps them learn to feel confident in making their own decisions, and allows them to learn from their actions and become self-reliant.

Life Skills and Success: Some life skills are not learned in the classroom. Camp offers children the opportunity to build these life skills to coincide with their new found knowledge. Camp teaches kids 21st century life skills that include oral communication, critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, social skills and leadership. These competencies are now required of future employees by all Fortune 500 Companies

Children that learn these life skills have a better chance at becoming a successful adult. Allowing your child to keep developing while not in the classroom each summer is important. A great way to allow children to keep developing is to sign them up for summer camp. At Camp Tioga, your child can continue to grow as a person while also still having fun on their summer break.
